Joel Dunn is the principal of Sandbar Consulting. His career has spanned thirty years of service to the University of North Carolina system, at UNC Chapel Hill and UNC Greensboro, as well as work with the North Carolina Research and Education Network and the North Carolina Networking Initiative. Additionally, Joel was, from 2013 to 2021, the VP/CTO/CISO at N2N Services, Inc., a software vendor based in Atlanta. He’s still with N2N as a Strategic Information Security Consultant. Joel was a senior administrator in the Information Technology division of UNC-CH and UNCG, managing diverse technical teams. His background is as an application developer, network engineer, and systems programmer, and he is able to speak to both technical architecture and application functional issues. Additionally, he has nearly two decades of experience teaching at the university level as an adjunct professor, and is well versed in technology issues for learning management and pedagogy.
